David Brennan - Founder & Lead Tutor
David is a hugely experienced educator who has been in teaching for 24 years, working in London and in International Schools in Asia. His most recent School-based role was as the Head of Maths at a 3-form entry Independent Primary School in Central London. David set up DBE in 2019 and has successfully worked with individuals, small groups and exam classes to help children to achieve 11+ entrance requirements into Eton, Winchester, Radley, St Paul's Girls' School, King's College, Godolphin and Latymer, Hampton, Wycombe Abbey, Emanuel and Reed's School. A strong advocate of creating the best learning environment, David believes that there are numerous factors that need to be considered when teaching and that children learn best when they are enjoying the lessons and feel happy in their environment. David has successfully fostered an attitude in thousands of children, that having a positive mindset and accepting that mistakes are part of learning, helps to create the best conditions for progression. David has competently and calmly supported families as they have navigated through the London 11+ process.
Rob Holmes Reed - Senior English Tutor
Rob has been working in schools for 12 years in a variety of London primary settings including EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. He started his career at an Independent Prep School in Kew and before honing his skills as a Year 6 Class Teacher and Science Lead at an Outstanding Primary School in Chiswick. He has since worked at an International School in Qatar and a Primary School in Wimbledon, before taking up his current role at a groundbreaking outdoor education Primary school in South West London. Rob has tutored children across the age range, specialising in English and Verbal Reasoning, especially for 11+ requirements.
Kathryn Durkin - Senior English Tutor
With over 15 years teaching experience in Prep and Independent schools in London, as well as internationally in Japan and Russia, Kathryn specialises in English tutoring across the age range. Kathryn tailors her individual and group lessons to boost any area of English required. She also tutors to prepare students for 7+ and 11+ tests in English and Verbal Reasoning as well as GCSE English Literature and English Language.
Aimee Williams - Senior Maths Tutor
Aimee is Head of Year and Head of Science in a London Primary School, with experience across Key Stages 1 and 2. With a PGDE in Primary Education and a Masters in Educational Leadership, Aimee has a strong foundation in teaching and learning and focuses on building learners’ confidence in maths. Her sessions include arithmetic, reasoning and problem solving to support her students’ basic understanding of maths and their critical thinking skills. Susan Roach - GCSE Maths Specialist
With over a decade of experience, I have supported a wide range of learners—from SEND students with autism and dyslexia to high-achieving pupils preparing for top-tier exams—and have gone on to become an Outstanding Maths Teacher and Head of Maths. I tutor KS3 and GCSE (AQA, OCR, Edexcel and IGCSE) with a proven track record of students consistently meeting and exceeding their targets, strengthened by my insight as an examiner for both Edexcel and AQA GCSE Maths. I also prepare pupils for 11+ entrance exams in Maths, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning, with successful admissions to selective schools including Henrietta Barnett, Tiffin Girls’, Westminster and Latymer. My teaching is adaptive, structured and confidence-building, grounded in the belief that strong mathematical understanding opens life-changing opportunities—my goal is to help every student thrive and reach their full potential.
Sarah Baker - Language Specialist
Sarah has been working as an MFL teacher for 25 years both in UK State and Independent Schools, and in Singapore and Australia. She can teach French to GCSE and Spanish to Year 9 and will tailor sessions to focus on different skills according to the individual needs of the student. Sarah is a friendly, positive tutor who is incredibly passionate about learning languages.
Katie Manning - Secondary Art Specialist
Katie has spent the last 25 years teaching arts and creative subjects in a wide range of secondary school settings, from Year 7 through to Year 13, both in the UK and across Asia. Her subject expertise spans art textiles, theatre design, art and design, ceramics, surface pattern and textiles technology, often combining these disciplines to give students a rich, hands-on creative education. Katie focuses her teaching on inspiring students to discover and develop their own creative voice, whatever media they are working in. She has an excellent track record of helping younger and older children build confidence, communication skills, self-expression and self-connection through the arts. She believes that art and creativity are invaluable in supporting the whole person, providing deeply transferable skills that are essential for navigating the modern world and enjoying a fulfilling life. Alongside her classroom experience, Katie is the mother of three teenagers, a practising artist, trauma-informed coach and Edexcel moderator drawing on her lived experience as a mother to a child born with a cleft to sensitively support families and individuals through the challenges of modern life to bring a grounded, emotionally aware, yet aspirational approach to her work with students.
